Team Soul Row Party
January 8, 2026
Row Party is a team-based rowing challenge where teams of four athletes work together to complete an 8,000-meter row, but there’s a catch.
Only one athlete may row at a time, and every 500 meters, the athlete must stop, get off the rower, and wait while the team completes a task before rowing can continue.
That task? Finish a 10-ounce beer.
The beer can be shared however the team chooses, one person can take it all, or the team can split it up. The only rule is simple: all 10 ounces must be fully consumed before anyone gets back on the rower.
Each team must include at least one female athlete, and the strategy is completely up to the team. Rotate rowers often, send one athlete to handle the drinks, or adjust on the fly; how you get to 8,000 meters is part of the fun.
HOW THE EVENT WORKS
Teams of 4 athletes complete 8,000 meters total on the rower, with one athlete rowing at a time. Every 500 meters, the row stops, and the team must finish one 10-ounce beer before continuing. Once the beer is completed and placed back on the designated table, any teammate may resume rowing. This cycle repeats until the monitor reads 8,000 meters.
Judges are assigned to every team to verify meter counts, transitions, and that all requirements are met before rowing resumes.
Penalties, Time Cap, and Scoring
Row Party keeps things fair and honest.
If a team begins rowing before the beer is fully finished, the athlete on the rower must remain seated with hands off the handle for a 15-second penalty before rowing can continue.
If a judge determines that beer has been spilled or intentionally dumped, the team must drink an additional full 10-ounce beer before resuming.
The event has a 45-minute time cap.
If a team reaches 8,000 meters, they finish immediately.
If the time cap is reached before completion, teams stop rowing, and their total meters completed are recorded.
Among teams that do not finish, the team with the highest total meters wins.
Ties are broken first by the number of beers completed, then by the time the team reached their last completed 500-meter mark.
