Wondering which division you should aim for? Take a look as we break it down!

INDIVIDUAL – Elite/Rx

This division is for the best of the best individual athletes. Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications and should be amongst the firebreathers in their gym.

Elite – 1st to 20th (20 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Rx – 21st to 60th (40 total spots, via invite & qualification)

INDIVIDUAL – Intermediate/Scaled/Beginner

This division is for the competitive athlete with only a few holes in their game. Athletes aspiring to qualify for the Intermediate division at WZA Miami are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed, however, if vying for an Open Registration spot in Scaled or Beginner, scaling is OK!

There will be a prescribed version, and an opportunity to do a version that is not prescribed.

Intermediate – 1st to 40th (40 total spots, via qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 41st to ∞ 

Please note: Athletes seeking to compete in the Beginner division should have no more than a full year of CrossFit experience. As a guide, this would be your first or possibly second live competition if you plan on competing in the Beginner division.

INDIVIDUAL – Seated Adaptive Rx/Scaled

The Seated division is for all adaptive athletes that perform the majority of their workouts in a seated position. Athletes able to perform exercises standing will not be eligible for the seated division.

Seated athletes will compete in a singular division in the WZA Online Challenge. At the conclusion, the top 6 athletes of each gender will qualify to compete in the Rx division, while those athletes that cannot perform the workouts as prescribed or finish 7th or below will be eligible for the scaled division via Open Registration.

Rx Minimums:
Olympic lifts: (110, 55lb)
Skills: Knee Burpees, WB, floor to box, 15/10ft Rope Climb, Swim unassisted, Most Rx gymnastic movements. Seated athletes will need access to a wheelchair.

Higher & Lower function level athletes will be classified as:
Higher – Unable to use abdominal muscles or below ie. T-7 -C-1 impaired
Lower -Access to all or some abdominal, hip flexors ie T-8 to amputee  

The Higher athletes will receive % deductions on prescribed weights. 

Qualify Rx – 1st to 6th (6 Rx qualifying spots)
Eligible for Scaled – 7th to ∞ (limited scaled open registration spots available)

INDIVIDUAL – Standing Adaptive Rx/Scaled

The Standing division is for all adaptive athletes that perform the majority of their workouts in a standing position. Standing athletes will compete in a singular division in the WZA Online Challenge.

Rx Minimums:
Olympic lifts 135, 85lb
Skills: Burpees, WB, DU, 15/10ft Rope Climb, Swim Unassisted, Most Rx gymnastic movements depending on the impairment 

Single Arm & Single leg athletes will be classified as 1 point of contact on the equipment or floor. These athletes will receive % deductions on prescribed weights. 

Qualify Rx – 1st to 6th (6 Rx qualifying spots)
Eligible for Scaled – 7th to ∞ (limited scaled open registration spots available)

INDIVIDUAL – 35-39

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 35 years of age but not older than 39 as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 30th (30 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 31st to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 40-44

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 40 years of age but not older than 44 as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 30th (30 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 31st to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 45-49

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 45 years of age but not older than 49 as of 1/1/2022.
Qualify – 1st to 20th (20 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 21st to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 50-54

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 50 years of age but not older than 54 as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 15th (15 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 16th to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 55-59

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 55 years of age but not older than 59 as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 10th (10 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 11th to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 60-64

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 60 years of age or older as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 5th (5 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 6th to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 65+

Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications. If you miss qualifying in this division, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Individual Scaled division via Open Registration.

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 65 years of age or older as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 5th (5 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 6th to ∞ 

INDIVIDUAL – 13-15

This individual division is designed for the top Teen athletes. Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications.  

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 13 years of age but not older than 15 as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 10th (10 total spots, via invite & qualification)

INDIVIDUAL – 16-18

This individual division is designed for the top Teen athletes. Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications.  

Age Requirement: Athletes in this division must be 16 years of age but not older than 18 as of 1/1/2022.

Qualify – 1st to 20th (20 total spots, via invite & qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Individual Scaled or Beginner – 20th to ∞ 

TEAMS – Elite/Rx

The “Elite/Rx” Team of 3 division is designed for the best of the best. The teams will be made up of 3 males or 3 females with athletes and should be CrossFit Games caliber or aspiring. Athletes in this division are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed with no scales or modifications.  

*Athletes do NOT have to complete the Online Challenge together.

Qualify Elite Team – 1st to 30th
Qualify Rx Team – 31st to 70th

TEAMS – Intermediate/Scaled/Beginner

This division is for teams with only a few holes in their game. Athletes aspiring to qualify for the Intermediate team division at WZA Miami are expected to have performed all workouts in the 2021 Open as prescribed, however, if vying for an Open Registration spot in Scaled or Beginner, scaling is OK!

There will be a prescribed version, and an opportunity to do a version that is not prescribed.

Intermediate – 1st to 40th (40 total spots, via qualification)
Eligible for Open Registration in Scaled or Beginner Team – 41st to infinity

Please note: Athletes seeking to compete in the Beginner Team division should have no more than a full year of CrossFit experience. As a guide, this would be your first or possibly second live competition if you plan on competing in this Beginner division.

All of our divisions have the ability to qualify for WZA Miami 2022. If you fall out of qualification, then almost all divisions have the opportunity to register through open registration. This gives everyone a chance to compete under the lights in downtown Miami. Can’t wait to see you on the big stage!
